When Oba Akiolu disgraced late Ooni Sijuwade , elbowed Kunle Ojora in Abeokuta

Oba Akiolu vs Oba Ogunwusi: My candid views!
April 26, 2017

By Femi SHODUNKE
NIGERIA: DEAR respected Nigerians, particularly those of Yoruba ancestral root, how many of you have seen the video trending now on the Facebook and Whatsapp over the “scornful” behaviour of Oba of Lagos Rilwan Akiolu to the Ooni of Ife, Oba Adeyeye Ogunwusi?
IN the video, Oba Akiolu, a retired Assistant Inspector General of Police, shunned (or disgraced) Oba Ogunwusi, who bowed in deference (a sign of respect to an elderly person) to the Oba Lagos to greet him at a public function in Lagos where there were many traditional rulers in attendance. This happened after Ooni had greeted and was embraced by the Obi of Onitsha, who sat beside Oba Akiolu.
A quick look at the video will, no doubt, give the impression that the action of Oba Akiolu was deliberate, probably due to factor(s) only known to him.
HOWEVER, you’ll recall that recently (March 28, 2017), I initiated a post, on my Facebook wall, titled “Oba Rilwan Akiolu: Kabiyesi Beware!” In the post, I advised the Kabiyesi on his utterances. Oba Akiolu had said then that there’s no vacancy at Alausa in 2019. The implication of that statement is that the current first term Governor of Lagos State, Mr. Akinwunmi Ambode, would automatically run for second term, even two years before the race would commence. Do you still recall Oba Akiolu’s rancorous statement before the 2015 election in which he was alleged to have told the Ibos in Lagos to jump into the lagoon if they would not support Ambode, the All Progressive Congress (APC) candidate, to win the governorship election?
WHILE I’ll wait for the defence of Oba Akiolu on his “rude” action to Oba Ogunwusi, but from antecedents, based on my personal experience over the years, I can say without hesitation (though I may be wrong) that the Lagos monarch acted deliberately.
WHY?
OBA Akiolu is too impetuous. I’ve seen him display uncomplimentary attitudes at a public function. In 2005, at the 90thbirthday thanksgiving service of the late Alake of Egbaland, Oba Oyebade Lipede, at St. Peter Cathedral, Ake, Abeokuta, the Oba of Lagos shunned the late Ooni of Ife, Oba Okunade Sijuawade. Oba Akiolu, who got to the church late and was in angry look, refused to greet Ooni. But funnily enough, he exchanged pleasantry with Oba Lipede who sat close to Ooni Sijuwade.
I wish my eyes can play out what I saw that day between Ooni Sijuade and Oba Akiolu.
THERE was another ugly incident that day involving Oba Akiolu when he elbowed Otunba Kunle Ojora almost pushing him down in the church while going to the altar for Oba Lipede’s blessing by the Bishop of Egba Diocese. Indeed, it was Olori ‘Bimpe Lipede that came to the rescue of Chief Ojora. I was the ONLY newspaper journalist that saw it and reported that angle in my medium, The Comet newspaper, the edition which I still have in my library till today. I wish I can scan and
I wrote: “The 80th birthday church service of the Alake of……was nearly marred yesterday when Oba Akiolu elbowed….”
FUNNY enough my report caused uproar that during a discussion on it at the Island Club in Lagos my cousin called in the NIGHT to alert me on the anger of Oba Akiolu and some club members. He even joked that I shouldn’t visit Lagos because I’ve been declared “wanted.”
HISTORICALLY, less than a year after the incident I was with an Egba Prince to visit Oba Akiolu in his palace, the first in my life inside Iga Idunganran.
WITHOUT knowing that I was the writer of the Ake scenario Oba Akiolu made reference to it. He expressed bitterness on the publication and justified his action against Chief Ojora (his account is still fresh in my memory with him making reference to the late Prince Ademola Adeniji-Adele).
I didn’t disclose I was the journalist and without him knowing, I recorded ALL his conversations with us that day on tape (which I hide under my cloth): how a newspaper reported him with his picture on the front page during the ascension to the throne of Oba Adeyinka (or so), which made him determined to become Oba of Lagos, life in the police, etc. Indeed, he was a good historian by his account that day despite been a University of Lagos graduate of Law.
DEFINITELY, from the above I can say that the action of Oba Akiolu to Ooni Ogunwusi could be deliberate, probably to the “Ooni stool” (not to the person of the King) due to his frequent impetuous behaviors.
OR could Oba Akiolu be looking at Ooni Ogunwusi’s age, as a “boy” he could be his father? But, if so, Ooni’s stool goes beyond age. At least, ex-President Olusegun Obasanjo, who is now 80 years and six years senior to Oba of Lagos, prostrated for Ooni Ogunwusi when he visited his palace shortly after his installation. So, what is the big deal in respecting culture? At least, some others who are senior to Oba Akiolu still bow and prostrate for him due to his exalted throne.
WITHOUT doubt, Oba Akiolu must stand up for Governor Ambode at a public function, despite the fact that less than 10 years ago when Ambode was a Permanent Secretary in Lagos State, he must have prostrated to greet the King whenever he visited his palace. But today, will the same Ambode prostrate for Oba Akiolu?
ABOVE all, Oba Akiolu needs to watch his behaviours before he would become public embarrassment not only to himself, but the good people of Eko, his admirers, Yoruba race and indeed Nigeria.
MY appeal is that fellow traditional rulers should wade into the unbecoming attitude of Oba Akiolu (to counsel him appropriately) to prevent him from being attacked by overzealous followers of Ooni, disgraced or become public opprobrium in the eyes of those who should not only always respect but honour him.

Why Pastor Temitope Joshua must be arrested, detained and chained now ! By Wale Ojo lanre

Why Pastor Temitope Joshua must be arrested, detained and chained now! By Wale Ojo lanre
I Wale Ojo lanre, Male, Nigerian, from Usi Ekiti and a Secondary School Senior of Pastor Temitope Joshua at Ansar – Ud – Deen Grammar School, Ikare Akoko hereby called on the President of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, President Muhammadu Buhari to immediately order the Inspector General of Police to arrest without undue delay and any iota of procrastination to arrest the Founder of Synagogue Church of All Nations.
The arrest of this Pastor Temitope Joshua is very urgent and must be prompt so as to save a stitch in time and to prevent this rare man of God from wreaking immeasurable havoc on this country.
However, I want everyone to get me right.
I am not calling for the arrest of Temitope, the name I used to call him when he was my boy at AUD because I envy his God elevated status and post
I am not calling for his arrest because I have a grudge against him due to what i expected him to do in our village ( Arigidi  Akoko ) which he has been doing a wrong thing
I am not calling for his arrest because he has done something wrong to you or that fellow
I am not advocating for his detention just because I am not a member of his Church
But i am calling for his arrest and detention now without any delay because the man of God is having an evil and adulterous plan if allowed to be executed will rain unmitigated calamity on the nation
You may think i am unfair for calling for the arrest of this wonderful Pastor who is not only a younger brother of mine, my junior at AUD, Ikare and my good boy then.
But i have to call for his arrest because I love this nation more than i cherish a school boy who God is using for his glory
And it is because of the fact that God is using him for his glory in Nigeria that I am calling for his arrest, detention and even to be chained down
Look, in 2003, I was in South Africa; I was on tour of the Nine Provinces in South Africa. I want to share this with you , from Johannesburg  to Cape Town to Pretoria , to Durban to Soweto to Mpumalanga , the talk over these places was “how is Pastor T B Joshua ? “
When I was in Zimbabwe too in 2007, you will think that TB Joshua, that AUD boy, was the only one in Nigeria. Walai, TB Joshua was and is a factor of reference in Nigeria by the people of the Southern Region of Africa. It is a fact
Joshua’s religious brand is not only embraced by millions but a global phenomenon that has added value to Nigeria and Nigerians
Kindly read this culled from the statement of Egbe Omo Akoko
First of all, the best economic importance of his ministry is strategic to the sustenance of the economies of a number of local businesses in Lagos state and Nigeria at large.

The UK Guardian newspaper of September 1, 2013 while reporting that his church attracts an average of 50,000 worshippers weekly, a figure higher than those visiting the Buckingham Palace. Incidentally, the importance of this large gathering of people on a weekly basis is phenomenal.

His church has also revered as a centre for global religious tourism, as the SCOAN has been described as “Nigeria’s biggest tourist attraction" and “the most visited destination by religious tourists in West Africa, with thousands of foreigners flocking to attend the church’s weekly services. Thisday newspapers (in the year 2013), reported that “about two million local and inbound tourists” visit The SCOAN annually. And that the church’s popularity has led to an increase in flight routes to Lagos from several African countries.

With an average of about 50% of the visitors to his church being foreigners, the foreign exchange earnings to the country and the huge patronage this generates for our ailing airlines, are enough reasons to for worry as far as his planned exit from the nation is concerned.

This influx of visitors has in no small measure, transmogrified the economy of the host community (Ikotun-Egbe), from near-dead state that it was, to a global economic hub and a beehive of economic activities. As people from many travel from different countries to transact business amongst his over 50,000 multinational visitors. The SCOAN's popular services have also resulted in an enormous boost for local businesses and hoteliers.

While not overlooking the spiritual benefits of his ministry, it is equally important to advance the importance of his humanitarian assistance to the masses in Nigeria and its uncountable impacts of such magnanimity. A large number of people have benefitted from his empowerment schemes to the poor, his scholarship initiatives to many young Nigerians, his sports initiatives aimed at helping many of our youths to realize their dreams and lots more.

In recognition of his worthy contributions to Nigeria in numerous ways, he was honoured with a merit award by the Federal Republic of Nigeria in 2008 as Officer of the Order of the Republic (OFR). It will therefore be callous and careless on the part of the concerned authorities in this country to close their eyes to the alarm Bell that is already ringing in the ears of the numerous people who are directly or indirectly benefitting from him.
Reading this excerpt you will see that Pastor T B Joshua if he is allowed to carry out his plan of relocating from Nigeria to Israel, the Nigeria economy may enter into another recession again
The Federal Government should arrest TB Joshua now , detain him and probably chain him down ,not with threat of criminality , nor with flexing of unproductive muscle with him over what could be avoided but with palliatives , incentive , collaboration , understanding and constructive engagement so that we can retain this glory of our Lord Jesus Christ in Nigeria
Like him or not, T B Joshua singular contribution to the economic advancement of Nigeria via religious tourism on daily basis is UN matched by no other person
The Federal government should arrest TB Joshua and assure him of being an integral part of the nation and the economy.
He should be detained in Nigeria with platitudes and hope
He should be chained with conducive environment to Nigeria so that the nation can continue reaping the aura of his divine blessing
God bless Nigeria

PRESS STATEMENT:
NIGERIA CAN NOT AFFORD TO LOSE T.B JOSHUA NOW

It has come to our notice, that the much rumoured news about the planned exit, of the global Prophet and man of God, Pastor Temitope Balogun Joshua. Who also doubles as the founder and general overseer of Synagogue Church of all Nations, is 'faster than expected' becoming a sad reality. As major news media in the country have been awash with the news in last twenty-four hours.

Pastor T.B. Joshua, as popularity called, is a pride of our nation, unarguably a priceless asset to Ondo state and our coutry at large, whose exit, if allowed, will cause a serious and almost irreparable 'economic hemolysis' to our country Nigeria.

While it may be a subject of amazement to many, the plea to pastor T.B. Joshua to shelve the planned relocation of his church, it will be insightful and pedagogic to highlight few of the reasons for this plea.

His church has also servered as a center for global religious tourism, as the SCOAN has been described as “Nigeria’s biggest tourist attraction" and “the most visited destination by religious tourists in West Africa, with thousands of foreigners flocking to attend the church’s weekly services. It will therefore  be callous and careless on the part of the concerned authorities in this country to to close their eyes to the alarm Bell that is already ringing in the ears of the numerous people who are directly or indirectly benefitting from him.

Needless to say, is the reality that Nigeria as a nation needs platforms such as that provided by God through Pastor T.B. Joshua for spiritual growth which is vital to building a nation made of righteous, honest and truthful men and women who will use these Godly virtues to rebuild our nation especially at this critical time.

Consequent upon the above facts and records, we want to reiterate, that exit of Pastor T.B Joshua will definitely result in a lost of unquantified furtune, in our country.

Proportionately, we want to call on the Ondo state Government, the Federall government and all other major and relevant stakeholders in the country. To swing into action immediately and come to a round table discussion on the discomforts of the man of God, and other threatening issues to his continuous stay, so as to put all Crockett paths in straight and perfect conditions, before it becomes too late.

May the Almighty God continue to bless our Nation and guide our leaders aright.

Thank you
