Read why Ojukwu will be happy in heaven !

Late Odumegwu Ojukwu. Leader of the breakaway Republic of Biafra from 1967 to 1970
The Federal Government has agreed to pay N88 billion as compensation to victims of the Nigerian Civil War in some affected states in the country.
This was the outcome of the consent judgment delivered by the ECOWAS Court of Justice in a case of negligence by the Federal Government to remove remnants of landmines and explosives from the civil war.
A consent judgment is issued when two parties agree to a settlement to end a lawsuit; the parties write up an agreement for the judge to sign.
The suit, filed by Mr Vincent Agu and 19 others against the Federal Government in 2012, had claimed that the government had failed to remove remnants of landmines and explosives since the end of the civil war in 1970.
They claimed that the lethal explosives had maimed, killed and destroyed innocent lives in their various communities.
The plaintiffs also claimed that apart from physical injuries, the abandonment of the war weapons had deprived them of the use of their farmlands, schools and churches.
In the consent judgement delivered by Justice Friday Nwoke on Monday, N50 billion would be paid victims of the war in 11 states in the southeast, southwest and parts of north central regions.
The 50 billion naira is expected to be paid to into a United Bank of Africa (UBA) account with number 1018230076 belonging Chief Noel Agwuocha Chukwukadibia, the nominated counsel for the war victims.
The remaining N38 billion would be for the evacuation of remnants of bombs and other lethal explosives and the construction of basic structures in the affected areas.
The money would be paid to Deminers Concept Nigeria Limited and RSB Holdings Nigeria Ltd charged with responsibility of evacuating the landmines.
By the consent judgement, the Federal Government would also establish a National Mine Action Centre in Owerri, Imo State for the victims.
Parties involved in the case acknowledged that 685 persons were selected and classified as survivors, identified by experts employed to screen and identify true victims of the war.
The experts identified 493 persons of them as victims of either explosions from leftovers of the landmines and other lethal weapons.
The parties in their agreement also acknowledged that a total of 17,000 bombs were recovered and destroyed while a total of 1,317 bombs were still in the stockpile located at the Mine Action Centre, Owerri.
The Federal Government also agreed to remove and destroy, without delay, the stockpile at the centre and in other areas.
Key signatories to the terms of the settlement are Mr Chukwukadibia and Alex Williams for the applicants.
Others are Mr Femi Falana (SAN), Mr Sola Egbeyinka, Mr Charles Uhegbu and Solomon Chukwuocha for the defendants.

Tinubu shuns journalists'over Buhari's second term says 'Don't discuss that one with me "

The national leader of the All Progressives Congress, Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu, on Monday told journalists not to discuss the possibility of President Muhammadu Buhari’s second term with him.
Tinubu was speaking to State House correspondents shortly after meeting behind closed doors with the president inside the new Banquet Hall of the Aso Rock Presidential Villa in Abuja.
When asked whether he agreed with different groups and individuals calling on Buhari to seek re-election in 2019, Tinubu simply responded: “Don’t discuss that one with me.”
The former governor of Lagos State, however, said the APC-led government was on course.
Before Bhari’s meeting with Tinubu, the president had earlier met with the Senate President Bukola Saraki and the Speaker, House of Representatives, Dogara Yakubu.
The two separate meetings between the President and his visitors took place at the new Banquet hall.
President Buhari, had on Oct. 26, met with the leaders of the National Assembly after the cancellation of the planned dinner for lawmakers in the Presidential Villa.
The President was to host the lawmakers to dinner at the new Banquet Hall of the State House, Abuja, by 8:30p.m. on Thursday.
He, however, met behind closed doors at his official residence with the Senate President, Bukola Saraki and the Speaker, House of Representatives, Yakubu Dogara with the Vice-President, Prof. Yemi Osinbajo and some presidential aides in attendance.
President Buhari had earlier met with President Alassane Ouattara of Cote D’ivoire, who was on official visit to Nigeria.
Ouattara had since returned to Abidjan, the capital of Cote D’ivoire.

Why Aregbesola is not happy in Osun State

We Are Not Happy Paying Modulated Salary to Workers – Aregbesola
Governor Rauf Aregbesola of Osun state has expressed his grief over the inability of the state government to pay full salary to the workers in the civil service and political appointees.
Aregbesola said he was unhappy on the payment of modulated salary to the workers, just as he explained that not all the civil servants in the state are affected by the modulated salary.
He stated this at the weekend while addressing a team of Federal Government on the Digital Switch Over who was on advocacy visit to the state, led to his office by the state Commissioner for Information and Strategy, Mr Adelani Baderinwa.
According to the governor, economic downturn induced by the brazen corruption, wanton theft of crude oil and mismanagement of the country’s resources by the PDP Democratic Party (PDP) led Federal Government forced the state to what it is witnessing today.
Aregbesola said no reasonable person or government would be happy not being incapacitated to perform his/its required responsibility.
The governor said: “We are not happy paying modulated salary to our workers in the civil service and political appointees, we are compelled by the financial reality; we are constrained.
“Contrary to the lies you are being fed, it is not all our workers that receive half salary. Workers on level 1-7, being the most vulnerable and the largest chunk of the workforce are being paid full salary. Workers on level 8-11 showed understanding with the government to accept 75% of their salary.
“It is only workers on grade level 12 upward that receive 50% of their salary. The workers have shown maturity, support and understanding. We acknowledge and appreciate the sacrifice and support of the workers.”
Aregbesola said the financial burden on the government was incurred to provide massive infrastructure to transform the state and develop it economically, noting that Osogbo desired infrastructure development to have a look of a state capital.
He said: “Before our government, Osogbo roads were very narrow and since there was no development, there was no heavy traffic and the roads accommodated the users. However, there was influx of people to the state since our administration came on board. There was heavy traffic on the Osogbo roads and they could not accommodate the traffic anymore.
“We started construction of new roads and rehabilitation of some existing ones to ease traffic. As a visionary government, we know that by the time our economic plan begins to grow, the Osogbo roads would become busier, so we come up with the construction of Osogbo East Bypass road.
“The Osogbo east bypass road has four big bridges. Anybody that does not have business in Osogbo will take the road to their various destinations. This will reduce traffic on Osogbo township roads. We constructed the road for economic purposes. People that are narrow in thinking do not know that.
“We know that things are hard and the state is passing through financial difficulty. But we are undeterred by the challenges. Our credo is to see that our people explore their freedom for economic prosperity.
“Our joy is in the fact that we will leave a legacy that will transform into economic prosperity for the people and the state. Like the credo of our mentor, Chief Obafemi Awolowo, we want freedom for all, life more abundant.”

In his address, Baderiwa, the commissioner for Information and Strategy, said he was in support of the Digital Switch Over, saying that it will provide for young and talented men and women and as well throw challenges to the lazy and unproductive workers in the media industry.

Gani Adams will be installed Are Ona Kankanfo on January 13 2018

Gani Adams  Installation As  Aare Ona Kakanfo Gets Date

The official installation of Otunba Gani Adams as the 15th  Aare  Ona Kakanfo of Yoruba Land has been fixed for the 13th of January 2018.

This is contained in a statement issued by  Femi Adepoju, the Director of Media And Communication to the Aare Designate.

"The palace of the Alaafin Of Oyo, The Iku Babayeye Ikeji Orisa, Oba Lamidi Adeyemi has scheduled  the installation ceremony  of the Aare Ona Kakanfo designate, Otunba Gani Adams as the 15th Aare Ona Kakanfo for the 13th of January 2018" the statement said,  even as it mentioned that details of the installation program would be announced later.

Recall that Otunba Gani Adams was proclaimed the  15th Aare Ona kakanfo by the Alaafin on the 15th of October.

Explaining the Choice of Adams as Aare Ona Kakanfo, the Alaafin of Oyo, Oba Lamidi Adeyemi, said the National Coordinator of the Oodua Peoples Congress, Gani Adams, was chosen as the new Aare Ona Kakanfo of Yorubaland after considering his antecedents as a Yorubaman who had exhibited passion for defending his people, their culture and tradition.

The monarch explained that Adams was courageous and bold whenever he stepped forward to defend the Yoruba race.

He said, “The choice of Adams was well thought out before a decision was taken. He has shown enough charisma to deserve the honour.

“If you have been observing him in the past many years, Adams attends all Yoruba festivals, irrespective of where they are held. He also promotes our culture through so many means including his annual Olokun festival.

“I picked him because he loves the Yoruba race and all the culture and tradition of our people. He has contributed immensely to upholding them. Whenever he attends these festivals, he goes with a large entourage and financially, he is always responsible for the cost. He does not attend in order to benefit financially.

“He may be young but he is also very bold and courageous. These are traits synonymous with an Aare Ona Kakanfo. Adams is a Yoruba cultural enthusiast. He defends the race anywhere he goes. Among his strengths is that he has strong supporters in every town in Yorubaland through his Oodua Peoples Congress

“Money or material wealth is not considered before choosing an Are Ona Kakanfo. Abiola promoted everything that had to do with Yoruba race. He was popular among his people and he was close to traditional rulers. So, Adams may not be as rich as Abiola but I can tell you he has all the qualities an Aare Ona Kakanfo should possess. He leads an organisation that is ever ready to defend the cause of the Yoruba race. Is there any Yorubaman that has such clout as Adams without being a politician today?” said the monarch.

Lai Mohammed canvasses for child protection on roads

The Minister of Information and Culture, Alhaji Lai Mohammed, has called on the various tiers of government to take adequate measures to protect school children while they are on the road to and from school.

The Minister made the call in Abuja on Friday when he received officials of the Children Accident Prevention Initiative (CAPI), an NGO working with the Federal Ministry of Education on the Safe School Initiative, at his office in Abuja.

"I think the various tiers of government need to take their responsibility more seriously. The various tiers of government must be able to provide vehicles and buses for school children.

"I think we must ask our local governments and state governments in particular to provide this means of transportation for our children," he said.

Alhaji Mohammed also said more efforts should be made toward the provision of emergency services, clinics, and ambulances in every nook and cranny of the country to save the lives of school children involved in accidents.

He expressed the concern that school children have become extremely vulnerable and endangered, particularly while crossing the road, due to the unruly activities of some motorcyclists and motorists.

"I agonise every time I see school children coming out of school. Very young people, they have nobody to guide them, they depend on kind motorists who will stop. Most times people don't stop for them and it's not a task that CAPI can do alone. I think the society must take ownership of this initiative because if our children are not safe then our future is not guaranteed," he said.

The Minister observed that the worth of a country is usually evaluated on the basis of how much it takes care of the most vulnerable people in the society, including children, the physically challenged, elders and women.

The Minister commended CAPI for the laudable initiative and enjoined them to widen their partnership to include the National Union of Road Transport Workers, Association of Commercial Motorcyclists, Vehicle Inspection Officers, Federal Road Safety Commission, Neighbourhood Watch, Health Workers and the Nigerian Security and Civil Defence Corps.

He pledged the collaboration of the Federal Ministry of Information and Culture and its parastatals with CAPI, especially in the area of advocacy, to educate Nigerians on the need to obey traffic regulations.

In his remarks, the National Coordinator of CAPI,  Elder Stephen Akujobi, said the initiative, which has been endorsed by the Federal Ministry of Education, came about as a result of the high number of school children killed in road accidents.

He said as part of efforts to curb the unfortunate situation, CAPI is advocating the use of reflective jackets and hand bands by school children to ensure greater visibility and caution on the part of motorcyclists and motorists.

The CAPI Coordinator also used the occasion to decorate the Minister and the Permanent Secretary of the Ministry, Deaconess Grace Gekpe,  as Patrons on the Initiative.

Are Ona kankanfo ! Alaafin choice is apt - Ooni Ojaja II

AARE ONAKAKANFO: GANI ADAMS VISITS OONI OF IFE FOR ANCESTRAL BLESSING, SEEKS FATHERLY SUPPORT

The Ooni of Ife, His Imperial Majesty Ooni Adeyeye Enitan Ogunwusi Ojaja II on Monday played host to the new Aare Ona Kakanfo of Yoruba Land, Otunba Gani Adams urging him to use his new position to right the wrongs in Yoruba land,  and described him as the right choice for the position.

Ooni of Ife made the submission during a historic visit by the 15th Aare Ona Kakanfo to him at his Ile Oodua palace in Ile Ife.

Congratulating the Aare designate, Ooni Ogunwusi applauded his choice and prayed that God empowers him to carry out the work assigned to him for the Yoruba race stressing that there is no doubt his choice is as a result of his antecedent as a fearless fighter for the emancipation of Yoruba interests by peaceful means.

The African foremost monarch added that partisan politics has destroyed so many things, declare Ona Kakanfo is a warrior who has a big role to play in the emancipation and unity of his people, hence the importance attached to the title.

According to the Arole Oduduwa, the title is not a social chieftaincy title, but one with robust traditional background and expectations.

The Ooni who prayed for the new Aare that " God will continue to uplift you" explained that even though Aare Ona Kakanfo is a warrior, the "war he has to wage this time is the war for the unity of Yoruba land which you have been propagating before and you should  do more."

The Ooni said Yorubas are front-runners and urged the Aare to ensure the race remains a frontrunner.

"The Aare Ona Kakanfo is deep and its importance is known mainly to the elders.

" Use your tenure for good, embrace both the natives and strangers among us.

" Rely on God and He will help you" the Ooni concluded.

Otunba Gani Adams in short speech said he deliberately decided to make Ooni's palace his first place of official visit since his proclamation as the 15th Aare Ona Kakanfo, because of the sacred uniqueness of the throne, the value he attaches to Ile-Ife as his place of origin as a Yoruba man and cradle of the Yoruba culture.

The Aare said the unity of the Yoruba race remains Paramount to him as he is ready to join the Ooni and the other traditional rulers of Yorubaland in ensuring peace, unity and progress for the race.

Thanking the Ooni for his previous support, he also sought the monarch's further support to enable him to make a success of his new assignment for the Yoruba race even as he promised to further promote the Yoruba culture.

FG Denies Alleged Deliberate Injection of Monkey Pox Virus

The Federal Government has described as fake and sinister the report that the outbreak of Monkey Pox in some parts of the country resulted from the alleged free medical care by the government in the affected areas.

In a statement issued in Abuja on Sunday, the Minister of Information and Culture, Alhaji Lai Mohammed, said Nigerians should disregard the report which, apparently, is being spread by some unscrupulous persons to fit into a sinister agenda.

''The Federal Government has not conducted any free medical service or care in either Bayelsa or Rivers state, as alleged in the fake report being circulated. So that could not have been the cause of the outbreak of Monkey Pox in both states.

"Monkey Pox is a virus found only in monkeys and it is rare in human beings. It belongs to the same family as Chicken Pox and Smallpox.

''It is suspected that someone may have contacted it by eating monkey meat, thus triggering the current outbreak," the Minister said.

He assured that no effort will be spared in curtailing the spread of the disease.

Davido Should Tell World How Tagbo Died -Caroline Danjuma

Davido should tell world how Tagbo died -Caroline Danjuma

Caroline and Tagbo

Nigerian actress Caroline Danjuma who was the first to post a message accusing Davido that her friend Tagbo died in his car and the singer and his crew abandoned the deceased in a hospital has revealed shocking details about her relationship with Tagbo.
Rumour making the rounds on social media states that Caroline and Tagbo were lovers and that her 3rd child Elizabeth came from the union.
In an interview with SDK, Caroline said:
“I really can’t believe that I am talking about Tagbo like this because he was not one who liked publicity.
Firstly I would like to address this whole razzmatazz about David killing Tagbo and that i said so,i never said but yes,i did call out Davido to know the whereabouts of Tagbo but i never said he killed him,i never used that word”Killed Tagbo”.
The last time i heard from Tagbo was on Monday when i just got back from MFM Church praise and worship which took about 7-8 hours Around part 8pm to ask me where I was::I had invited him for the programme but he didnt show up..he called and asked where i was and when i said i was home,he said he was coming over.
I was tired but didnt want to sleep off because if Tagbo comes he would ring the bell.so i went upstairs to watch CNN to keep myself awake until he comes and for some reason i slept off and woke up by part 1am or 2am and as you know the normal ritual was to call your friends the next day when they are celebrating their birthday.
I felt bad that i had not called Tagbo because Tuesday was his birthday.I tried calling him but his number was switched off but i thought it was network and continued trying but it was switched off and i concluded that maybe his battery was down.
I sent him a text message to wish him Happy Birthday and i went to bed.
I woke up at5-6am to do my normal routine and looked at my phone and there was no missed call or reply to my SMS:They day went on and I kept trying his number but until 3pm his number was switched off.
I was out at the Bank when Tagbos childhood friend called me and said that he wanted to talk about ,he was just asking random questions.
I told him i would call him back.I am aware that Tagbo was trying to do his Schengen visa so i called the guy helping him out to ask if she had heard from him but she said Tagbo was supposed to deliver some documents but had not.
I got home and called Kola back around 4pm and this was when Kola revealed to me that Tagbo was dead…I thought it was a joke because Tagbo does not drive carelessly,he doesn’t fight,he is not one to be seen in a place where people are fighting..if he is angry he walks away.
I was confused.
I decided to call the mum to find out if he went to Anambra to see his mum like he said he would to collect some documents…So i called the mum and she said she had not seen Tagbo.
I sent the sister a message that i heard Tagbo was dead and she should help me find out if it was true. The sister replied asking ”how when and where” and then i knew that she was unaware.
So i decided to call my neighbour who was also Tagbos friend and my neighbour who was holidaying in Lebanon called me back and said that there was a bet of 200k and that Tagbo drank about 50 shots of tequila and i said that cannot be true.Tagbo cannot drink even a glass of hennessey because he has a light brain like me .
So a guy who cannot drink this much cannot finish 50 shots of tequila..Tagbo does not need 200k to do that.
He comes from a very wealthy background so he does not need that kind of bet,he is not hungry for that.I was shattered to hear such a news,I went into my office and sat down.
I tried to find out where Tagbo was and Kola said he had been trying his best to find out but that each time he calls the people would drop the phone on him or tell him they would call back.
So for one hour and despite trying severally,we had not gotten any info to where Tagbos body was or what hospital he was taken to…
Tagbos friend chucks made some calls and found out that Tagbo was taken to Lagos island.
Meanwhile someone who rented my bar told me he was with Davido at Shisha bar on Monday and then i asked him randomly ”oh then you must know tagbo” cos Davido and tagbo are close friends and the only reason tagbo would be there is if Davido was there…that is on that birthday eve
The guy confirmed he met Tagbo and that was when he knew they were birthday mate and he also said they had fun and went from there to DNA to party..this was all before i heard Tagbo had died…so my impression then was oh Tagbo was having fun and that was why he hadn’t gotten back to me..
I called the same guy when i heard tagbo had died and asked him to find out what happened and he said he was trying to but every time he called Davidos team and mentioned tagbos name they would drop the phone on him and this was what they had also done to anyone who calls and mentions his name.
Davido knew and his crew knew Tagbo was dead at as 3a.m in the morning and they did not contact anyone,Davidos PA Lati knows where Tagbo stay but did not go to the house to inform anyone.
*Breaks down crying so interview had to wait*
After we had that Tagbos body was in Lagos island Davidos crew refused to give any info and this was about past 7pm.
I contacted someone who remembers seeing davido and tagbo and DNA and remembers there was a fight.
This person also told me there was a bet and said the same thing my neighbour said but said 30 shots and not 50.
According to what was said,Tagbo drank the tequila and got intoxicated and wanted to drive his car but Davido refused and said tagbo should drive with him..that was what i heard and that they drove to G12 beach and got out leaving Tagbo in the car all locked up and that one of the crew members came back saw tagbo gasping for air…this was the info they spread out there from a supposed eye witness.
He was taken to general hospital where he was confirmed dead and they left him there…..
We went there with Nabila and Mary who can confirm what was said…We were told that he was dumped and those who brought him ran away.
The doctor told us that when the nurse were trying to fix the card, the two people that brought him ran away and their footage could not identify those who brought him and ran cos they hid their faces with caps.
They refused to tell us anything, the medical director told us that because they ran away it was now a police matter and that we should go to the police station.
I posted online asking Davido why they abandoned Tagbo on my way to the police station because i was so angry and needed answers.
I sent Davido personal messages but he didnt reply until i called him out on the social media and he told me to take down the post and he would tell me what happened.I took down the post and told him to come to the police station but he never showed up..Tagbos family members came from far but davido and his manager did not show up.
Tagbos phone and shoes are missing and someone went on tagbos instagram and deleted all the videos he posted of being with davido on that day and eventually deleted the account.we quickly munched all the videos on snap chat…tagbo was with Dammy Krane,Davido and Asha asika.
Davido knew that tagbo was dead but kept quiet. He told the Police later that he would have spoken out if i didnt call him out on the social media..can you imagine.
Tagbo meant everything to a lot of people…his widowed mum who is recovering from an ailment ..I am pleading with anybody who has info on who drive tagbos dead body to the hospital to come forward…
We want to know what happened and how tagbo died.Davido we are not calling you a killer but we need to know hat happened to Tagbo, you owe him this because he loved you like a brother,he took you like a brother,do it for him and call out the people you assigned to drive him…Please.
*Breaks down crying again*
They alleged that the late Tagbo is your last child’s baby daddy, can you confirm or deny?
I have woken up to see all sorts of allegations and it is really laughable because the whole idea is to divert the attention form the questions i am asking about what happened to Tagbo. I will address this once and for all.Number one,i met Tagbo when i was legally divorced and out of My ex’ house to start a new life…….
Yes we were dating.
My daughter is three years old and I only met Tagbo last year,so its not possible that tagbo is the father of Elizabeth.
The person who posted that info claims to have Tagbos phone and claims he went to DNA with Baba, who is baba?
Let us leave sentiments aside, trying to blackmail me to keep quiet will not work or change anything.we need justice for Tagbo..
No one is accusing anyone of being a murderer but we need to know what happened and why everyone is quiet…My anger is that he was abandoned by those supposed to be his friends and brothers.Davido and Tagbo were very close and I am angry with Davido for keeping quiet.
Those who drink tequila should come out and confirm if 30 shots of tequila is strong enough to kill..
Stop protecting whoever is guilty, someone is dead, please!”

Why heavy sex good for older adults

An active sex life improves brain power in older adults

I

Older adults who lead an active sex life are more likely to have increased cognitive function, according to a new Oxford University research collaboration.

The study which was conducted in partnership with the University of Coventry, found that people over the age of fifty, who engaged in above average levels of sexual activity, scored higher in a series of tests than others.

A total of 73 people, (28 men and 45 women), took part in the study, findings from which were recently published in The Journals of Gerontology, Series B: Psychological and Social Sciences.
Participants were asked to complete a series of questions assessing their general wellbeing and how often, on average, they engaged in sexual intercourse. Respondents then selected answers of either; never, monthly or weekly. The tests measured an individual’s verbal fluency and their ability to visualise objects and the spaces between them.
For the verbal fluency criteria, participants were asked a series of questions that could reflect their cognitive abilities. They included; naming as many animals as possible in 60 seconds, and then to say as many words beginning with the letter ‘F’ as they could.

Respondents who were the most sexually active scored the most highly in both sets of tests. However, the results suggested that frequency of sex had no impact on people’s attention span, memory capacity or language skills. In these
areas participants performed equally well, regardless of whether they reported frequent sexual activity or none at all. They also took part in activities to determine their visuospatial ability, and tests included copying an intricate design and drawing a clock face from memory.
The study builds on previous research from 2016, which found that older adults who were more sexually active scored highly on cognitive tests than those who were less so.
Dr Nele Demeyere, Co-author and Associate Professor in the Department of Experimental Psychology at Oxford University, said; ‘This study improves on earlier findings drawing a link between sexual activity and cognitive health as measured in a very brief generalised way. Where these population studies have large representative samples, they often pay a price in terms of the range and detail of available measures.
‘Smaller studies like this allow us to test which aspects of cognition are affected. The main effect on the total test score was explained particularly by one of the subtests, which gives a measure of fluency.  Though these tests may seem straightforward, it requires strong executive control to shift to new information, update your memory and inhibit previous responses.
‘This finer-grained information now tells us that the protective effects of sexual activity seen before may not be related to typical verbal memory measures (as you would relate to early signs of Alzheimer's dementia), but instead they seem linked to a dopamine controlled system of executive function and working memory.
'The second most common form of dementia is vascular dementia, typified by early decline in executive function rather than memory.  Current work in my translational neuropsychology group includes the development of new, more sensitive cognitive measures to detect early signs of vascular dementia (note: not the ones used in this study). We look forward to applying these measures in large population studies to give both increased depth and breadth of cognitive measures, moving away from a singular focus on memory as the key domain of research into ageing and dementia.'
Moving forward, further research could shed light on the role that human biology influences why sexually activity seems to influence cognitive function, and in what way. The team are specifically interested in the impact of hormones such as dopamine and oxytocin.
Lead researcher Dr Hayley Wright of Coventry University's Centre for Research in Psychology, Behaviour and Achievement, said; ‘We can only speculate whether this is driven by social or physical elements – but an area we would like to research further is the biological mechanisms that may influence this.
‘Every time we do another piece of research we are getting a little bit closer to understanding why this association exists at all, what the underlying mechanisms are, and whether there is a ‘cause and effect’ relationship between sexual activity and cognitive function in older people.
‘People don’t like to think that older people have sex – but we need to challenge this conception at a societal level and look at what impact sexual activity can have on those aged 50 and over, beyond the known effects on sexual health and general wellbeing.’
