British Airways offers free upgrades to first class
British Airways passengers travelling in Club World (business class) on flights between today and August 28 are being offered a free one-way upgrade to first class.
The offer is open to UK customers on selected departures booked before June 14. Outbound journeys much be made by August 28, while the return flight must be taken by September 8. See full terms and conditions at ba.com/upgrade.
Those who wish to take up the offer should contact their travel agent or BA at 0344 493 0787. It cannot be redeemed through the BA website.
Fliers who take the offer will enjoy the benefits of first class, including access to 'fast-track' security and the Concorde Room, the airline’s most luxurious lounge, as well as “sophisticated" cabin suites with “beds, personal blinds, a wardrobe, personalised service, complete with an a la carte menu, fine wines and champagne”, the airline said.
Customers travelling on the airline’s new Boeing 787-9 Dreamliner aircraft will experience the airline’s latest first class cabins, introduced last year, offering a private eight-suite space, with four additional storage areas around each seat, including an ottoman, a locker for small personal items and a storage space for electronic devices, complete with recharging capability.
The cabin's in-flight entertainment features include a 23-inch fixed screen, a smart “jog-dial” to adjust the seat's recline, a headrest, a lumbar inflate and a “global” lighting control to set both ambient and reading lighting.
“Unsurprisingly, these upgrade offers are extremely popular with our customers”, said Sara Dunham, BA head of marketing, retail and direct.
“It’s a really nice way for us to recognise our customers and give them something back as a thank-you for their booking and their loyalty."
Meanwhile, Monarch Airlines is offering £48 off all fights to Europe booked before midnight on April 6, as well as £48 off all holidays booked by midday tomorrow, to celebrate its 48th birthday. Valid for travel between May and October.
