Roberto Martinez has been sacked as Everton manager, according widespread reports.
The decision was made following the Toffees’ 3-0 defeat to Sunderland at the Stadium of Light on Wednesday evening, a result which confirmed the Black Cats’ survival in the Premier League.
Everton, who are currently sitting 12th in league, have managed just one win in their last ten matches in the English top division and Martinez has found himself under intense scrutiny.
The Spaniard arrived at Goodison Park in 2013, after stints with Swansea City and Wigan Athletic, and was the fourth longest serving manager in the Premier League after Arsene Wenger, Eddie Howe and Mark Hughes.
Martinez still had three years remaining on his contract at Everton which the 42-year-old signed in the summer of 2014.
