The crudeness of Governor Fayose's thought !
It is a fact that the Fulani cattle rearers have turned themselves to murderous band of blood-guzzlers and ferocious kidnappers , Their presence is not only always sending down a feeling of tumultuousness but there is an assurance that they will not only act tumultuously but leave imprint of blood , pains , sorrow , anguish and teeth gnashing .!
This has led to the girding of loins by state governors not only to protect the lives and property of their people but also to put a stop to the rampaging gang of killers invading their sates. .
Different shades of strategies have emanated and evolved from the inner recess and thinking chambers of these governors , some of them who just react on impulse without having a deep philosophical examination of the problem with practicable solutions .
Yes , the fulani cattle rearers' bloody incursion must be stopped but not with wishful thinking and genocidal strategy bearing in mind that Nigeria is a nation and the intermingling process brought by commerce , politics and social realities .
However , some of the approaches being adopted by some Governors left much to be desired . And these go a long way to expose the quality of governance and the mental conception of of their act .
Imagine a governor who threatened to poison the water along the grazing route or wherever as if the poison or the Gamalin knows the house or the texture of an ekiti person from a Fulani who may come in contact with either the water or the surrounding leaves , plants and floral ?
One of the latest and laughable stunts played by the governor of my state , His Excellency Ayodele Fayose is the backing being rallied round the local hunters in preparation for any insurgence of the Fulani .
I laugh and laugh and laugh .
Yes , the hunters are very useful . But in this situation of cattle rearers, their prowess, charms , skill and abracadabraic hunting stunts may not only be useless but irrelevant .
The cattle rearers are not only more sophisticated but deadlier than what the hunter think of them .
Yes , we have the all , ayetas , gbetu gbetu , okigbe , ayunota , and all those charms and amulets which we once during our days experimented at our own risks ( the story of the traditional bullet proof will be told one day ) but who said these cattle rearers who command cattle to do their biddings do not better and potent charms than us ? .
We talk of gun . Yes , I can see my brother in the picture displaying the shakabula , the dane gun which he thought he had fortified at Baba agba's covens in Odo , but who told us that the fulanis have not only fortified themselves but also their Ak 47 and other sophisticated deadly weapons , arrows and others ?
When I saw this picture , I pity my Governor and I pity my people .
i pity my Governor for always being impetuous , rash and constantly dancing to the gallery and always showcasing to the world his penchant for publicity and popularity seeking notoriety .
There are many better reformed and civilised strategies which can be employed to handle the recklessness of the rampaging cattle rearers other than this crude , cheap and attention seeking exhibition of permittivity of the most learned ethnic group in Nigeria .
It is useless making the poor hunter puns and bullets folders in the sight of the Fulanis if they decided to graze in Ekiti regardless of the proclamation of the Governor on this .
It is even very dangerous because the Fulani may not be able to demarcate the boundary of Ekiti from other adjunct sates .
Goading our Ekiti hunters into committing suicide just because of 2.5 million naira is not the solution to stop the Fulani cattle rearers in Ekiti elsewhere.
This method or strategy is nothing but crudeness of thought and dearth of workable ideas .
This is not the solution . This is not the way it should be . It is just making our people , the hunter suya meat for the rampaging fulani cattle rearers in the face of an encounter . There should be a more realistic approach to this .
Dialogue should be the weapon to be employed in solving this matter . Not packaging some half fed hunters and donating few naira to ginger and prepare them for murder . Fulanis are within us . They have established and even married to us . according to a feature report carried by the Nigerian Tribune in Oke Ogun . Thus , it will be fruitless if we decided to ban them or their activities . They have the fundamental human right to carry on their trade in Nigeria within the ambit of the law .It will be a denial of this portion of the constitution if we unilaterally ban them . But here , dialogue will work . The political philosophers always insist on dialogue as problem solver .
Also states could set up cattle rearers. monitoring committee which should be back up with security agencies , post them to the cattle trail centers with specific charter of duties . Networking with the Fulani . The states could also establish contact points for the fulani coming into their territory for guidance , monitoring and direction .
The fulanis are Nigerians and they should be allowed to carry out their trade within the ambit of law in the states under monitoring . This is a fact .
The states can even generate fund from the cattle rearers and make them responsible , eco supporter and reasonable through education and enlightenment of where and how they could carry out their trade within the confines of the law and the state .
These and many others strategies could work the magic rather than deploying part of the meagre resource of the sate in goading our hunters into act tantamount to mass suicide
