‘I don’t want to talk to you no more, you empty headed animal food trough wiper. I fart in your general direction!’
Possibly that was what footballer Adam Ljungkvist had in mind when he let off a ‘deliberate’ fart during a match.
The Swedish player had been booked with a yellow card during the ninth tier match in Sweden, and broke wind loudly on the field.
‘I needed to fart, I had a bad stomach,’ he told Swedish newspaper Lanstidningen Sodertalje. ‘So I just farted. Then I received a yellow card and then a red.’
He insisted he didn’t mean to offend anyone with the fart and it was just a case of nature calling.

But he said the ref ‘may have thought that I farted in my hand and threw it towards him, but he didn’t say.’

‘I was shocked, it’s the strangest thing I have ever experienced on a football field,’ Adam told the paper.
‘I asked the referee: “What am I not allowed to break wind a little?” He replied “no”.’

Kristoffer Linde, an opposition striker, said: ‘I was standing a good distance away but I heard the fart loud and clear.
‘It’s the strangest thing I’ve seen on a pitch, and I’ve been playing football since I was eight years old.’
Later Adam told German newspaper Aftonbladet: ‘I spoke to the referee afterwards, I was annoyed, but there were no bad words. I just said he was a buffoon.’
Referee Dany Kako said: ‘I perceived it as deliberate provocation. He did it on purpose and it was inappropriate. Therefore, he received a [second] yellow card.
The flatulent footballer had been playing left-back for Pershagen SK. His team lost 6-2.
